Violation of intellectual property rights requires protection of the right holder from unfair use. A C&D letter is an effective preventive and prohibitive tool, and often an efficient mechanism for stopping violations. After receiving a C&D letter violators often voluntarily stop selling counterfeit goods and withdraw them from circulation. For the majority of right holders, such a mechanism for working in the consumer market is an effective way to protect themselves against counterfeiting and at the same time conduct an information program to prevent violations in the future. When an infringement is discovered, we carry out C&D work against the violator as efficiently as possible, and only if this procedure does not have the proper effect on the violator, we ensure that our claim is considered by law enforcement agencies.
